Our Story

Heath-leopard began in 2014 when founder Catherine Murray recognised a fundamental gap in how Scottish families learn about money. After two decades working as a financial planner, she noticed the same patterns repeatedly: adults struggling with concepts they should have learned young, teenagers entering university without basic budgeting skills, and children developing problematic spending habits before they even had bank accounts.

Rather than continue treating symptoms in her advisory practice, Catherine decided to address the root cause. She partnered with experienced educators to develop age-appropriate curricula that make financial concepts accessible and engaging for learners from eight years old through retirement age.

What started as Saturday workshops in a rented community hall has grown into a dedicated education centre on George Street, serving over two thousand learners annually through structured programmes and standalone workshops.

Our Teaching Philosophy

Principles that guide every lesson we deliver

🎓

Learning by Doing

Abstract concepts become concrete through simulations, games, and real-world exercises. Our learners practice making financial decisions in safe environments before facing them in real life.

🔄

Age-Appropriate Progression

Content builds systematically across age groups. A concept introduced playfully to eight-year-olds evolves into sophisticated understanding by adulthood.

👥

Family Integration

Financial habits form within households. We encourage family discussions and provide resources that help parents reinforce concepts at home.

🌍

Real-World Relevance

Every lesson connects to actual financial situations learners will encounter. No abstract theory without practical application.
